Hi! I'm Scott.
I believe curiosity has the power to transform your life and change the world. It's the key to connection, healing, and personal growth. It's a critical practice for your relationships, leadership, and life satisfaction. Curiosity, something we're all born with, makes us happier and improves our well-being.
But how do we tap into this superpower?
My debut book, SEEK: HOW CURIOSITY CAN TRANSFORM YOUR LIFE AND CHANGE THE WORLD, blends cutting-edge research with electric and vulnerable storytelling to teach readers my signature "DIVE" model—an engaging way to strengthen our curiosity muscles that's driven by my work at UC Berkeley's Greater Good Science Center.
SEEK scored an Amazon Best Book of 2023 Award, the Porchlight Best Business Book Award, and a Must-Read Book from the Next Big Idea Club curated by Malcolm Gladwell, Susan Cain, Daniel Pink, and Adam Grant—who wrote that my book is "a timely bridge for our divided world." I've also appeared on The Today Show, Harvard Business Review, NPR, The Guardian, CNBC, and many other outlets to spread the gospel of curiosity.
I have spoken at Google, Microsoft, Pixar, IDEO, Meta, Airbnb, as well as universities and schools around the world. Beyond writing and speaking, I work on creative storytelling projects with some of the world's most impactful and influential artists, organizations, and social movements. I also teach groundbreaking courses at The University of Texas at Austin. I'm grateful to do this work alongside joyful and purposeful humans!
I split my time between the San Francisco Bay Area and my writer's studio in the California Mojave Desert—but I'm an island boy at heart! I was born and raised in Hawaii.
